Organic Plastic : The New Hope For Environment

The term 'organic plastic' implies those substances that naturally decay through bacterial action or get dissolved with ground water in some way or other.

The conventional plastics made from the crude oil which do not decay but the new type of plastic that are made from the starch of potatoes, cereals, or maize are biodegradable.

However, the production of biodegradable plastic is still a very cumbersome and expensive process. scientists are therefore working on new smarter ways of manufacturing environment friendly plastic.

The latest product is a bio-plastic  by the name of  polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB). It is produced by bacteria fed with glucose or sugar. The plastic is manufactured from the small pads, which bacteria use to absorb food.
